In the fall of 2009, three musicians out of Greenville, S.C. came together to form the band, Signs of Iris. Cassie Posey, lead vocals and Johnny Puleo, guitarist, began playing with local friend Jared Burger, drummer. After a few jam sessions the three discovered a chemistry combining an indie feel with classic rock and a 90’s flair. It was evident that there was a uniqueness that set them apart from other local bands. Johnny’s “soloing” talent and classic rock influence provided “hype” among other musicians, while Jared’s personality and drumming skills drew in popularity for the band. They began playing several gigs in the area after winning their first battle of the bands at the “G” Spot, and gained a following of fans who were eager to experience the energy, passion, and humor the band brought to the stage. One year into Signs of Iris’s rampage of Upstate, S.C., they added bassist, James Litzie. James, a fan of Signs of Iris and who had attended a number of gigs, showed interest in playing bass for the band. He was the missing piece to the puzzle. Now fully formed, the band has created a sound and stage presence that could not be matched.
