California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill giving illegal immigrant college students access to state-funded financial aid, the second half of two-part legislation known as the "Dream Act."
The controversial measure, which passed the Democrat-controlled legislature on a party-line vote in September, represents a victory for immigrant-rights activists ahead of the 2012 presidential election. California is the nation's most populous state.
When we discussed this on the show, I said my peace under time restraints. Meaning we had commercials to get to. The damn "man" holds me back yet again.
I feel for the kids involved. Kids have no say so when it comes to where they're gonna live and under what conditions. But here's the problem. If we tell illegal immigrants that if you're here illegally and you bring kids with you under the age of 15, we will help them with college-doesn't it make sneaking in a little more attractive? For the kids, it's a great thing. But they need to be schooled on something else. The difference between right & wrong. It's is wrong to be here illegally. That's why it's called illegal.
I forgot the Political Correct Police don't like calling them illegals, instead undocumented. Probably because by calling them illegals you're reminding everyone that what they're doing is infact, illegal! If Paige asked me to not ever come to her condo again and I went there anyway, it's called trespassing. Eventually the cops would be called and I may or may not be arrested. Because it would be illegal.
I'm a firm believer of helping others. Truly I am. But I'm also about helping mine out first. In this case I'm referring to Americans....documented Americans. There are thousands of American kids who can't afford to go to college at all orrrrrrrrrr you spend 10-20 years paying off student loans. Meanwhile, Jean Luc brings his family here illegally and as long as they were here before 15 they get the hook up.
If your family was starving and so was the family across the street and you have one meal left, who do you feed? Any sane person will say my family. If you had enough, that same sane person would try and assist the starving neighbors too, right? Using these terms, America has one nice meal left and it's for Documented Americans. If we had more to give I'd be all about it.
But the Pantry of America has bare shelves.
