Don't Sweat the Small Stuff!

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff
I have had a terrible week. It seemed the world came crashing down on me all at once. The one thing that I did not do- is over react. I listened to everyone. The result of this was that I was able to repair relationships in my life. I was overwhelmed when I got a call from my brother. We were both in tears, because of something that happened before my wedding. I have been married for a year in a half. You would think that things would have been resolved before now. Anyway, I couldn't have been happier to hear his voice. I really don't care what he was so mad at me about. What I have learned since I have moved to South Carolina is that, there are people here who love to create conflict. I am not one of them. Life is too short to sweat the small sh..! I am glad, that I didn't say anything to him that I would regret. Now, I am looking forward to spending time with him. Therefore, my advice to you is to call your loved ones. Tell them how much they mean to you. I needed that from my brother.

Myths
altText

Entertainment weekly had debunked 10 infamous showbiz myths. Most of them were debunked years ago. "Mikey Likes It," I don't think anyone still believes that Mikey from the Life Cereal commercials died from mixing Pop Rocks and Coke. He never died. And by now, we all know that the kid who played Paul on the ""The Wonder Years" isn't Marilyn Manson. That guy went to Yale and became an Attorney. Gold Finger Actress Shirley Eaton was not in mortal danger from the gold paint they covered her in. The scream heard in the Ohio Players song "Love Rollercoaster" is not the scream of an actual woman in distress. The sound was provided by keyboard player Billy Beck. Mama Cass from the Mamas and the Papas didn't die choking on a ham sandwich. She died of a heart attack in bed. Yet, there was a ham sandwich by her side….which made for a good story, since she was 220 pounds. There is not a scene in the Wizard of Oz where you can see Munchkin commitment suicide by hanging himself in the background. What people were actually seeing was a bird. Walt Disney was not cryogenically frozen. He was cremated. A little boy's ghost didn't appear in front of a window in "Three Men and a Baby" It was actually a cardboard cutout of Ted Danson. Marisa Tomei was not accidentally given an Oscar for My Cousin Vinny" in 1994, when the presenter Jack Palance mistakenly read the wrong name. It was kind of a surprise, However, Marisa won it legit. The "Dueling Banjos" scene in the movie Deliverance wasn't planned, but just happened when the kid with the banjo wandered along and started playing. The scene was planned, but it just happened when the kid with the banjo wandered along started playing. Do you remember the rumor of Richard Gere with the gerbil? Rod Stewart had his stomach pumped after a gay encounter. I have heard about these last rumors, but I am sure they are not true.

Manson Vs Rose
altText
Yesterday we talked about two stories that didn't shock me. First Charles Manson is not getting paroled. Secondly, Axel Rose said he would not show up at the Rock Hall of Fame this weekend. Manson told the parole board that "I'm special. I'm not like the average inmate. I have spent my life in prison. I have put five people in the grave. I am a very dangerous man." He probably lost his last bid for parole, which means that the 77 year old killer will likely die behind bars. I can't fathom of the thought that Manson would ever be paroled. He was sentenced to death for the murders in the 70's. including the horrific murder of actress Sharon Tate. He will never be sentenced to death, because the California Supreme Court found the state's death penalty unconstitutional; his sentence was changed in 1977 to life in prison with the possibility of parole. I seriously don't think that Charles Manson can be rehabilitated. Axl Rose, I figured wouldn't be inducted in the hall of fame. However, I was wrong. He will be inducted -with the rest of Guns Roses Saturday Night in Cleveland. The only other artist to have declined induction was the Sex Pistols back in 2006. Axl wrote a lengthy letter to the Hall of Fame. He sent it to the LA Times and posted it on Face book. It was addressed to fans and to whom it may concern. He said that, he respectfully declined his induction as a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Furthermore, Rose says that there will never be a Guns Roses Reunion: In regard to a reunion of any kind of either The Appetite or Illusion Lineups. I've publicly made myself more than clear, nothing's changed. No one is surprised about this announcement. I guess the day Charles Manson gets out of prison would be the same day Guns N' Roses will be seen on the same stage together, Never!

America The Beautiful
altText

Yesterday, I thought of how I was going to spend my summer vacation. I happened upon a survey from Hotwire.com. The survey found that the majority of Americans haven't been to five of this country's landmarks. 72% of us have never visited the Alamo. The Battle of the Alamo was a pivotal even in the Texas Revolution. I haven't been to the Alamo. 65% of Americans Surveyed has never been to the Grand Canyon. I have been there twice. It is something amazing to see. 62% of Americans have never seen the Statue of Liberty. I have been to New York. Unfortunately, I have not visited the Statue of Liberty. 61% have never been to Golden Gate Bridge. I have walked on the Bridge and I have been at the Fort Point, beneath it. I lived in California and never went to Alcatraz. I know it sounds weird. But, if you live somewhere, you don't want to visit a tourist trap. It would have been easy to take a tour. I always had something else to do besides touring San Francisco. Now that I don't live there anymore, I would love to do that sort of thing. 57% of Americans have ever been to the White House. I have not been to the White House either. I would love to see Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, and Stone Mountain Georgia. Finally, the point of this blog is that we have so much see in the United States. It's kind of shame that we as American don't visit our own historical monuments.

It was a great St. Patrick's Weekend. Todd kicked off the weekend with his Kilt on Friday. Saturday at Ford's, the Big Ass St Pats party was awesome. Sunday, my husband shaved his head at St. Baldrick's, to help kids with cancer.

Grey
altText

Hemingway is one of my favorite authors. Why? Because, he loves to write about life's struggle. I recently saw a movie that pulls at your heart strings in that sort of way. The protagonist is a flawed hero, like a Hemingway Character. I finally saw "The Grey". It made me think about the ultimate human frailty, suicide vs. the will to live. Liam Neeson is kind of like a rugged Hamlet in the movie. The plot involves a group of oil rig rough necks who are stranded after a violent plane crash. The survivors are left to fend for themselves in the Alaskan Wilderness. Many of them are dead or wounded. The ones that "lived" are basically left to die in the bitter cold. In the very beginning of the film Liam's character contemplates suicide. Prior to that, he kills a wolf. This scene ironically foreshadows the plot development of the film. The villain is wolf. In my opinion, Ottway's inner demons are the wolves. It is a classic struggle like Hemingway's "The Old Man in the Sea." The story of Santiago and the Giant Marlin reminded me of the wolf and Liam's character. Here are the correlations Santiago stabbed the Marlin in the Heart. The fish was devoured by sharks. Ottway was the sole survivor left to face the alpha wolf in his den. There is a man with a painful revelation, just like the poem that is read in the movie.
Poem:
Once more into the fray.
Into the last good fight I'll ever know.
Live or die on this day.
Live or die on this day.
You are left to decide for yourself. Who lived and why?

.Meat Lovers

So Valentine's Day was really nice. I can't remember when the studio was that full of testosterone.
Today we had the Mile of Meat. The "Meat" were single guys who were looking to find a date for Valentine's Day. The men each had a sign with a number on them. The interested women had to text the number into to the station. I think #8 got the most texts. They were all hotties. Jeff got to be a Chipendale Wrestler for the day. I made the paper cuffs for him to complete his outfit.
