The Center for Disease Control and Prevention released figures on Monday revealed that
Americans are getting fatter. According to the figures, the number of states with high obesity rates grew to 12 from 9.
More than a third of the adults in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia are obese. Mississippi has a higher rate at almost 36 percent of the population.
It is not surprising that the obesity rate is on the rise. I was driving on Woodruff Rd and noticed that there are so many fast food restaurants in Greenville. I have a terrible time getting my Husband and Step Son to eat anything that is not deep fried. I am not saying that I do not not need to drop a few pounds. I need to lose weight. If you are 30 pounds over weight, you need to lose weight for health reasons. The problem is that we may have a generation of people who have diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol at a younger age. It is scary if almost half of the population is obese.
