Yesterday, I met a pretentious woman who asked me, “What do you do for a living?” Her tone so was incredibly mean and condescending, that I didn’t want to tell her, what I did. I believe what she meant to say, was how do you earn a paycheck? How much money do you make? What is your socioeconomic status? And based on that status, where do I fall on the socioeconomic ladder compared to you? Am I a rung above you? Surely, I couldn’t be below you? How should I judge you? Do you spend your time wisely? How well educated are you? Are you worth my time? I was a latch-key kid- who grew up in California. I have a lot of real life experience, which has molded me into the person that I am. Not to get all Kelly Clarkson on you, but ‘you don’t know a thing about me. ‘I may be that voice on the radio, but there is much more to me, than what I do.
