PREACH IT ALICE! I think a lot of modern rock bands have the "if we step out of the main stream we'll get swept away in the current" mindset. Meaning if they do something "different" they'll be forgotten.
In a way I think he's dead on. It's the old school "sell out" debate. I've seen some of my favorite "out there" rock and metal bands fall in line with the mainstream (ahem, Mudvayne, Slipknot) and become homogenized rock bands.
He's right. It's pretty much the reason why I never listen to the radio anymore. Not trying to bash or anything. The only thing I hear that's any good on the Planet is the 90s stuff. Just about everything else sounds like some kind of Nickelback/Shinedown/Theory of a Deadman lovefest.
